I have decided to follow my heart and do what I love to do, it has always been a dream to have my own restaurant.

My Curry Rice concept is based on what I experienced while visiting Japan. At every railway station, small little stores were churning out hot streaming curry rice… Being Indian I was amazed at how the Japanese had taken Curry and Rice, simplified it, and made a multi-billion dollar industry. The Japanese have made it so simple that it is the first thing a Japanese kid is taught how to cook. And Yes, the Japanese amaze me.Growing up in, India I come from a family of brilliant cooks like my mother Connie and my sister Berna. I got to taste and watch them cook many fabulous dishes. I took their recipes and came up with my Traffic light sauces (Red, Yellow and Green) which everyone can enjoy.

Now, after living in the US for 16 years, I have learned that America loves choice. I remember my first meal in Alabama, the waitress asked me 20 questions about 1 dish I ordered… which dressing, what sides, how I wanted it cooked, etc etc… I figured that the Mongolian Grill serving style would work well and so came the idea of Build-Your-Own Curry..any way you want it…

And thus the concept of Martin’s Curry Rice was born. After a few taste trials, measurements and recipes were formulated, and research into starting a restaurant was conducted. The key was to find the right primary location. I looked all over Cary, Apex, and Morrisville for a suitable location for the restaurant. I eventually found 9549 Chapel Hill Rd, a 1600 sq ft space right in the heart of the Triangle between Cary and Morrisville.

The space was a hole in the wall, and it took a fantastic team of people like restaurant expert Greg, realtor Mary, builder Steve, plumber Billy , HVAC expert Tommy, painter Ray, equipment guru Chris, architect and designer Andrea, engineer Ed, fire safety Steve, their teams and many more who “Made it Happen”. Come check out their work and see what a fantastic job they all did. Check out their profiles below and if you need their services, you can trust them to do a great job.

To put it all together I had my buddy Mark Winston help me with the business development using the website as a key marketing tool, Tesh Parek do my photographs, Mitchell Coles do my Fliers and many more who are professionals but have helped me out as friends.

My family Kaoru, Aoi and Takumi have been my daily inspiration and the source of my passion and energy to put this together. My close family friend Mani who has known me since childhood has helped me every step of the way. There are many family and friends that have encouraged me and helped me build this concept, taste the food, and have supported me thru this entire process. I have certainly thankful and grateful to the wonderful people I know.

And thus this July 2010 a dream comes true. Believe in your dreams and You Can Make it Happen.
